Ramapuram SRM conducts National level seminar on Big Data Analytics, Hadoop & Ecosystem.

Department of Computer applications, Ramapuram SRM Institute of Science & Technology organized a national seminar on “Big Data Analytics, Hadoop and ECO system” on 9th February 2018. The National Seminar was inaugurated by the chief guest, Mr. T.V. Balakrishnan, Senior Business Analyst, FIS Global Solutions, Chennai. The session was chaired by Dr.J.Dhillipan, HOD-MCA (VP-Admin) and co-chaired by Dr. V. Subbiah Bharathi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Dr C.Sundar Vice-Principal (Academic) – S&H.
After felicitation of chief guest, the session commenced with the inaugural address by Mr.T.V.Balakrishnan, Senior Business Analyst, FIS Global Solutions where he pointed out that there is a big gap between the market and ACADEMIC institutions and only the premier institutions like SRM can fill the gap by introducing new courses with latest specializations like AI- IoT
Further, he gave same real some time examples to elucidate the differences between data analysis and data analytics. He elaborated how E-commerce has resulted in line of business extensions. The business intelligence technology adapted by various E-commerce providers resulted in business integration with legacy data using OLAP. He proceeded by explaining how the data running in social media generates around 200 zeta bytes. So to handle these BIG DATA, we go for variety of tools like Hadoop.
In the continuation, keynote address Dr.V.Subbiah Bharathi, Dean E&T explained how terabytes of data is being generated by more than 300 IoT sensors, which are then pushed into the cloud. In addition to that, he concluded by mentioning that the University is planning to introduce new B.Tech programmes with AI, IoT specialization in the forthcoming academic year.
