Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, will lay the foundation for a development project in Mirzapur on August 1 ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
“The home minister is likely to visit Mirzapur on August 1 to lay the foundation stone for Vindhya Corridor,” said Ratnakar Mishra, the BJP’s representative in Mirzapur.
Shah, he added, will also speak at a public gathering, citing sources. The formal home minister’s programme has yet to be finalised, he said.
“According to party sources,” Mishra added, “the home minister would first pay homage” to Goddess Vindhvasini at Vindhyachal Temple before taking part in “havan.”
Shah will address a public assembly in the city before laying the foundation stone, he added.
Over Rs 300 crore worth of projects are included in the Vindhya Corridor, the chief minister’s dream project. The project includes expanding the roadways around the shrine to 50 feet to allow ‘darshan’ for worshipers.
In addition to Ma Vindhvasini Devi, the Ganga river flowing in the northern direction of the temple would be vividly seen after the completion of the corridor.
