NCC takes the calling, honours achievers

The moment turned colorful at 1 (Tamil Nadu) Naval Unit NCC premises inside Fort St George in Chennai on 14 October as the winners received felicitations. National Cadet Corps Directorate of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar was feeling proud, for 36 cadets from its directorate took part in All India Nau Sainik Camp for 2019 and secured the first position.

The contingent in addition to winning the first position also secured won trophies in drill, semaphore, firing and health and hygiene.

The Girl Cadets were the champions in boat pulling event. The impressive performance by the 36 cadets saw them bag gold, silver and bronze medals in various events in boys and girls categories.

The camp was held between 3 to 13 October in Vishakapatnam. As the applause touched the skies the cadets proudly walked to receive honors.

The cadet contingent was given a warm welcome  as they set their foot in Chennai Central station recently after turning victorious.

Dheeraj Kumar, principal secretary, Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, the chief guest congratulated the winners and lauded the achievements of NCC directorate.

Deputy Director General of NCC Directorate (Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar) Commodore Malay K Kukreti and Group Commander of NCC Group HQs Pondicherry Colonel K Jayachandran were  also present.
