DRDO salutes the father of the nation

Defence Research and Development Organisation Estate (DRDO Estate) in Avadi turned centre of attraction when it rose to the occasion to pay respects to the Mahatma Gandhi by celebrating Gandhi Jayanthi on 2 October on its premises.
Sources from Defence Ministry said prior to the celebration of Gandhi Jayanthi host of events were held which aimed to strengthen concepts like eliminating single use plastic, water conservation, enviroment conservation and clean surroundings.
Gandhi Jayanthi marked the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, celebration commenced with a formal prayer and paying floral tributes to the father of the nation.
V. Balamurugan, Director, CVRDE, Avadi was the chief guest. He emphasized that the programs organized to highlight various important issues are to be taken as the call of the nation.
He expressed happiness that the employees and residents evinced keen interest in participating in all events conducted from 5 September to 2 October those exhibited their dedication to serve the Nation.
DRDO Estate manager Shaik Ghouse Mohiddin elaborated on the significance of various events held prior to the celebration of Gandhi Jayanthi.
Everyone here rose to the occasion to make all these events a grand success, he said. Lectures, competitions, awareness programmes were organised to highlight the importance of issues like cleanliness, environment conservation.
The winners of various competitions were given prizes. Fancy dress parade by the children showcasing the cultural diversity of India and an orderly procession of all participants with the accompaniment of Bajans those were cherished by the Mahatma during his time in the Sabarmati Ashram attracted everyones attention.
