Surveillance remains high on our eastern seaboard thanks to Indian Coast Guard (ICG).

It was recently that 18 Sri Lankan fishermen sailed into Indian waters in eight boats and were fishing illegally. But were soon taken into custody, thanks to the swift action by ICG.

The boats apprehended had fish caught illegally from Indian waters, Indian Exclusive Economic Zone on the sea. It is worth recollecting that ICG has been maintaining constant vigil on the seas with deployment of ships and aircraft regularly to monitor suspicious activities at sea.

Besides providing security to our Indian fishing boats by extensive surveillance, assistance to fishermen in distress at sea is also provided by the Indian Coast Guard.
