Hyderabad to host the 8th edition of GES
Vibrant and varied,global entrepreneurs to come together to share, learn and inspire

The Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) will have its 8th edition for the first time in South Asia. After travelling from Washington D.C., Istanbul, Dubai, Marrakech, Nairobi, Kuala Lumpur, Silicon Valley, GES is now being organized and hosted jointly by the United States and India in Hyderabad from 28th to 30th November 2017 with 1500 participants shortlisted for the summit. The Summit will be inaugurated by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and Advisor to the President of USA, Ivanka Trump. She will lead the U.S. contingent to the summit, which will highlight the theme of âWom
en First, Prosperity for Allâ and focus on supporting women entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth globally. The Summit will focus on four areas viz. Energy & Infrastructure; Digital Economy & Financial Technology; Health & Life Sciences and Media & Entertainment.
The participants are selected from around the world with one-third each from the host countries with nearly 300 investors and ecosystem supporters who will catalyse investment and networking at the summit.
âFor India, the summit holds a special place as we are more intensely focused than ever before to give entrepreneurs the opportunities and ecosystem to help them thrive,â said Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, the government’s think tank. âWe have been encouraging the spirit of entrepreneurship through various programs be that Start-Up India, Make in India or the Atal Innovation Mission. This Summit will help us showcase our incredible potential to the world,â he said.
To support women entrepreneurs and foster economic growth globally, GES 2017 will have 52.5 percent of women entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem supporters. 127 countries are participating with more than 10 countries to be represented by an all-female delegation, including Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and Israel.
American entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem supporters from 38 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico will participate. Indian entrepreneurs from the length and breadth of the country will join GES and connect with entrepreneurs and investors from around the world.The summit will host 31.5 percent young entrepreneurs at GES under 30 years. The event will be a platform both for the youngest entrepreneur atage 13 and the oldest entrepreneur aged 84.
Speakers from over 35 countries are expected to participate and share their insights on technology, innovation, entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs and popular names from various industries like sports, culinary, hospitality will participate in the 8th edition of the summit.
A virtual exhibition through a multi-touch interactive wall, sensor-enabled touch screens, rotoscope mural technology and physical displays will showcase over 100 innovative start-ups, products, services and processes that are transforming the Indian and global landscape.
Besides, a series of events like Hackathons, pitch competitions were organized globally and out of 500 Indian entrepreneurs, 35 have been shortlisted from pitch competition to present their ideas to the worldâs top investors opening up a platform for funding and mentoring support.
