Meeting discusses various issues For implementation, for welfare
S Vishnu Sharmaa, INN/Chennai, @svs037 R K Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway, Alok Kumar, EDE(IR), Railway Board and principal heads of all departments of Southern Railway took part in the review meeting chaired by Manhar Valjibhai Zala, Chairman, National Commission for Safai Karamcharis and Jagadish Hiremani, Member, National Commission for Safai Karamcharis at Southern Railway headquarters on 24 January.
Issues relating to safai Karamcharis and manual scavengers of the Southern Railway were discussed with a view to monitor the implementation of ‘The prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013’ and the Supreme Court Judgement dated 27 March 2014.
Chairman and member also had a meeting with the representatives of All India Railway Safai Karamcharis Association, All India Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe Railway Employees Association and All India Other Backward Class Railway Employees Association and heard about their grievances.
