Tambaram railway station located in the southern suburbs of Chennai has a happy news in store, thanks SRWHO, the headquarters of Southern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation.
Two battery operated vehicles (BOVs) sponsored by SRWHO were provided at Tambaram station on 12 December for the use of passengers. The vehicles cost Rs 3.69 lakh that includes the cost of operation.
SRWHO president Mansi Kulshrestha handed over the BOVs to the station manager of Tambaram station. Passengers can avail the vehicles free of cost at Tambaram station by calling the mobile numbers of drivers displayed at the station or by seeking the assistance of on-duty station master or other railway staff.
These vehicles can be of good use for senior citizens, differently abled people and sick passengers. General manager of Southern Railway R K Kulshrestha, divisional railway manager of Chennai division Naveen Gulati were among others present.
