A September Fest Inauguration of Phoenix Marketcity and Palladium with Animecon

The much-anticipated September Fest by Phoenix MarketCity and Palladium, Chennai, kick-started on the 14th of September with a bang, for a month long festival dedicated to Asian pop-culture. The festivities was attended by national and international cosplayers for an action- packed animè extravaganza. Anime Convention or AnimeCon was a three-day festival that brings out the unique flavor of Asian popular culture to all the people of Chennai.
Spaces across the mall were transformed to create zones of enchanting experiences. Manga Lounge was set up at Club Crest whilst the Wire Room at the Design Hotel saw a pop-up Japanese–inspired Maid Café. The mall also witnessed hundreds of participation from people for the Ramen eating contest, Manga contest and treasure hunt competition.
In addition, there were interesting workshops organized across the mall on costume designing, origami, calligraphy and many more to engage the audience and to provide them with the best of Anime experience. And the highlight of the three-day festival was the Main Cosplay Competition which saw an active participation of more than 100 ardent cosplay followers in the avatar of their favorite Anime Characters.
International Cosplayer, Ms. Onrumpa Jingrukwong, from Thailand attended the event to entertain and encourage the audience.
The grand finale of the Main Cosplay competition was judged by Mr. Vijay Choraria, Promoter and Managing Director of Crest Ventured Limited, Mr. Nitesh Rohit, Founder of AnimeCon India and Ms. Poornima Ramaswamy Award-winning Indian movie costume designer.
The winner of the grand finale, Jurian Chan took home a cash prize of INR 1.5 lakhs for the character of Miku Hatsune from Vocaloid while the first runner-up, Preeti Yumnan, got a cash prize of INR 80,000 for the character of Emila from Rezero and the third runner-up, Chakbi Lombi, got a cash prize of INR 50,000 for Scorpion from Mortal Combat.
