The days are becoming better at Chennai Central Railway Station, which is one of the busiest spots in Chennai. Being a witness to about 350,000 footfalls in a day’s time, its importance can never be undermined. So attempts are being made to ensure things remain convenient for passengers.
The latest attempt made for the sake of passengers is installation of a new 5000 litre drinking water (reverse osmosis) plant at the new concourse area near Platforms 9,10 and 11. The facility was donated to the Railways by Rajasthani Association of Tamilnadu as a social cause.
Naveen Gulati, Divisional Railway Manager, K. Manoj, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, B. Guganesan, Station Director, S.N.Narain, Divisional Commercial Manager and office bearers and members of the Rajasthani Association, namely Ashok Mehta, CA Rajendra, Suraj Saklecha and Vinod Jain were present.
This is not for the first time that better things have happened at the important landmark. It won Indian Green Building Council Certification for adopting green measures in the station. This has come of a happy news to the residents of this city.
Presence of facilities like seating, waiting hall, pay and use toilets, emergency medical care, e-shuttle vehicle inside station building, mobile charging points on every platform, drinking water points and more has earned Chennai Central this certification.
