Matej Poplatnik has left Kerala Blasters to join Scottish Livingston FC. Scottish Livingston Club officially declared on Wednesday that they have signed Slovenian striker Matej Poplatnik from Kerala Blasters.
The 27-year-old striker spent the season 2019-20 at Hungarian club Kaposvari Rakoczi on loan and struggled to make his six appearances in just a single start. He was expected to return before he was signed by Livingston FC at Kerala blasters after a year spent apart.
Livingston FC announced his signing with Jack Fitzwater, who played for Walsall in league Two, the fourth Tier of English football.
After the official statement made by Livingston FC Poplatnik made his statement on social media to give goodbye to Kerala Blasters and thanking them for the support they provided him. He said “Yellow Army, it is not a goodbye but time to accept new challenges and opportunities in my life. I will miss you all guys and I will think about you every day,” he wrote. “I am not a player of Kerala Blasters anymore, but from now I am a part of Manjappada. Thank you for everything, for every second you gave me, for all your support. You made my experience in India just amazing. Thank you again for everything. Hope to see you again.”
Livingston came fifth in their Scottish premiership last season and got a place below Europeans and 41 points behind champions Celtic. Matej is expected to boost up its performance to attain a top position on the table in the next season.
