For early detection of lost mobile phones
Please furnish IMEI numbers of handsets

Southern Railway authorities have requested the passengers to furnish IMEI numbers of their lost mobile phone while lodging a complaint.
Sources say, RPF or GRP personnel could not easily trace lost mobile phones as passengers are not furnishing the 15 digit IMEI number when they lodge complaints.
Providing the IMEI number will help easy detection of the phone. Rail users are requested to record and furnish IMEI number of the lost mobile handset at the time of lodging complaints in connection with loss/theft of mobile phones.
The 15 digit IMEI number is easily accessible through dialling *#06* from each Mobile Handset. It is felt that furnishing of IMEI number of the mobile handset at the time of lodging complaint will help police in many angles to track and trace the mobile handsets and also to arrest the culprits.
