It is great time of Tamilnadu

It is time to celebrate for Tamilnadu as the Department of Rural Development is said to have received 13 awards from the Centre. Sources say, the awards were presented in recognition its work for rural development.

Tamilnadu received 13 awards for effective implementation of schemes for enhancing rural development that include MGNREGA. Tamilnadu won the awards in the category of state, district, panchayat union and village panchayat.

Tamilnadu Minister for S.P. Velumani is said to have requested the Centre for release of Rs 2,369 crore for rural local bodies for 2019-2020. Minister Velumani is also said to have met Union Rural Development Minister and requested him to provide performance grant of Rs 194.78 that is due to village panchayats in Tamilnadu for 2017-18.
