On Tuesday evening, the Karnataka parliamentary party conference will elect a new chief minister to replace B.S. Yediyurappa.
Before MLAs chose their leader, central observers usually relay the party leadership’s viewpoint to them.
On Monday, Yediyurappa announced his resignation, marking the end of his government’s two-year term. The 78-year-old BJP veteran told Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot at the Raj Bhavan that he resigned “voluntarily” and that he will continue to be involved in state politics.
