Punjab MPs seek to meet Sonia Gandhi, may oppose Sidhu appointment

Congress MPs from Punjab host looked for a meeting with get-together boss Sonia Gandhi with sources saying that a larger part of them were of the view that Navjot Singh Sidhu ought not be selected as the state party boss.
Congress MPs from the two Houses met on Sunday evening at Rajya Sabha party Pratap Singh Bajwa’s home to examine the possible move to delegate Sidhu as the state Congress boss, sources said.
Governing some information about the meeting, Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari, who is batting for a non-Sikh state boss, said: “Inside party matters will just be examined at party discussions.”
Bajwa, who was the host, made light of the gathering, saying: “We are with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, whatever choice they will take, everyone will acknowledge it.”
The gathering follows two key gatherings on Saturday – the first between Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and the gathering’s state in-control Harish Rawat in Chandigarh and the second was gone to by Speaker Rana K.P. Singh, Bajwa, and the Chief Minister.
Emphasizing that he would acknowledge any choice taken by Sonia Gandhi, Amarinder Singh has named the gathering with Rawat as productive, adding that the latter would take up the issues raised by him with the gathering boss.
In the meantime, Sidhu is meeting MLAs in Punjab and around 10 MLAs have turned out in open help of Amarinder Singh.
