On March 13, 2015, during the congress led UDF regime, the opposition then (LDF) began protests against the then Finance Minister K M Mani questioning his alleged involvement in a corruption case regarding granting of bar licence protesting.
Besides flinging the speaker’s chair from the podium, electronic equipment like computers, keyboards and mikes on the desk of the presiding officer was also allegedly damaged made by the members of the Left Democratic Front.
During this ruckus, the protests were held and some of the lady members were injured in the scrimmage and they had to be taken out on stretchers. One FIR was filed by the Legislative Secretary and the other by the lady members against the then members of the house allegedly involved in the ruckus. The case arising out of FIR lodged by lady members is still pending in the High Court while in the case arising out of FIR lodged by the secretary, the present government has moved a withdrawal application.
