The BJP quoted today the post-Poll violence report by the NHRC in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Congress of Trinamool, saying the state was not governed by the Constitution, but by an individual’s will.

The National Human Rights Commissioner (NHRC) presented its July 13 report to the Calcutta High Court, stating that West Bengal is a demonstration of “ruler law” rather than “rule of law” and recommending a rape and murder probe of CBIs.

BJP Speaker Gaurav Bhatia today addressed at a media conference and told Trinamool and Mrs Banerjee that the NHRC received 1,979 post-poll violence allegations. He stated that 15,000 individuals were tortured and 8,000 were subjected to abuse and wrongdoing but that no measures were taken.

“How violence occurred in Western Bengal following 2 May (the vote result day), as well as the killing and harassment of innocent citizens, it seems that Western Bengal now is controlled by an individual’s whims not by the Constitution. Banerjee shut her eyes and let TMC thugs’ free hand, “He said. He claimed.

He further stated that while the Trinamool workmen were “on the rampage causing a commotion inside the state,” state police did not fulfil their responsibilities.

Following the judgement of a five-judge bench of the High Court in Calcutta, the NHRC panel also said it was necessary to prosecute cases of alleged rape and assassination outside the state. On Tuesday, after the report had been filed, the Court instructed the petitioners’ counsel, the Election Committee, and the Additional Solicitor General of India to provide their soft copies along with annexes.

However, Ms Banerjee cries fault and claims that the rights panel rejected the report to the media. The report was leaked. She said that the NHRC panel did not contact or take into consideration the state government.
