Karnataka plans to reopen colleges on July 19
COVID-19 has brought absolute unpredictability into our lives. There’s a lot of confusion regarding the opening of schools and universities across the world. The most affected set of students are the college students who are in their final year. The careers of this year’s university graduates may be severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. They have experienced major teaching interruptions in the final part of their studies, they are experiencing major interruptions in their assessments, presentations, and finally, they are likely to graduate at the beginning of a major global recession.
While the organizations and working class are doing everything to make sure their business continuity and work are in progress without any disruption. Education organizations also trying to reopen schools and colleges as everything is back to normal.
The Karnataka government is planning to reopen the colleges of the state on July 19, with an attendance of 64% students and 85% staff. Yet other colleges are also making plans to reopen for in-person learning, despite the ongoing public health crisis.
Due to COVID-19, everything went online the majority of schools and colleges have moved to online classes and are continuing as per the academics. But now the government is trying to settle everything.
“The decision will factor in the speedy vaccination drive among the student population and mounting pressure from medical colleges, and from those who have come back to the state from other parts of the country and abroad to study here. These students are already losing a huge portion of their academic year and also money on accommodations” said a CMO official.
Karnataka government is planning to issue to make vaccination compulsory for the students who are going to attend offline classes as colleges will reopen.
Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa is looking forward to announcing the final phase of unlocking which will be implemented from July 19. The students and staff who have taken the first dose of the vaccine can attend the colleges.
