The due date for filing of Annual return and Audit report under GSTR 9, 9A, 9B and 9C is 31st of December, 2018. In regard to this, The Sindhi Chamber of Commerce, Chennai has made a representation to the Union Finance Minister Sri Arun Jaitley seeking an extension of due date for filing of GSTR 9, 9A, 9B and 9C forms from 31st Des 2018 to 31st March 2019.

The Sindhi Chamber of Commerce, Chennai is an institution founded in 1987 and is affiliated to the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Copies of representation have also been sent to Revenue Secretary, Chairman CBIC, Commissioner GST policy wing and to the press and media.

The application mentions that- during the initial period of implementation of GST, the GST portal encountered many glitches and there were frequent changes in various compliance requirements. Further, there have been numerous important trade friendly amendments in GST laws. Rules and notifications necessitated by various representations made by various associations. these amendments and various other similar measures, though welcome and trade friendly, have made the trade to split the data of the financial year into different periods for different compliances. Added to the due dates for filing of forms GSTR 38 were extended for different months making it more difficult to ensure compliance with regard to payment of interest and late fees.

The above complication makes filing an Annual return and the Audit report by the given due date difficult, and thus The Sindhi Chamber of Commerce has filed representation requesting an extension in due date hoping for a positive response from the government.
