Mahindra Ecole Centrale organises student research symposium

Mahindra Ecole Centrale(MEC) College of Engineering recently organized its first undergraduate research symposium ‘URS@MEC 2018’. URS showcased the research focus ideas of the third and fourth year students through poster and oral presentations. About 60 posters and 12 oral presentations were made at the symposium subjects related to data analytics, block chain technology, metamaterials, seismic analysis, financial modeling and micro fluidics.
Former director of IIT Delhi V. S. Raju in his keynote address dwelt on ‘Challenges and opportunities for Indian Engineers’. He gave insights into the requirements, opportunities and challenges for them in the current scenario. He said India is aiming to be an economic and technology power in future and the day is not far off when our country will achieve this position, he said.
Young entrepreneur Vishnu Saran shared his journey through a string of startups within a short span of time. He said success and failure are an integral part of any attempt made to reach pinnacles of glory. The lessons we learn from our attempts, failures will teach us to correct our mistakes and move ahead towards pinnacles of glory, he said.
Yajulu Medury, Director, MEC said the organisation has been encouraging its under graduate students to take part in ongoing research programmes. URS@MEC 2018 was a culmination of certain interesting research work successfully carried out by the MEC students in the form of either internships or as research project associates with faculty as mentors.
These students admirably demonstrated their skills and talents so much so that our plan is to expand the scope of this symposium to include external college students as well in the future, he said. Poster and oral presentations were assessed by an independent jury composed of MEC faculty and prizes were distributed to the presentations that were adjudged the best ones.
