Amity School of Communication’s second industrial visit to the Dainik Bhaskar Printing Press

Exposure to real life industries is one of the key elements implicitly emphasized in Amity University Madhya Pradesh.

In the light of the same, Amity School of Communication organized another successful Industrial visit to the Dainik Bhaskar Printing Press for the students of the department on the 23rd of February 2018.

Yet again, the visit was arranged for the second year students. The members of faculty, Prof. Dr. Sandesh Mahajan, Asst. Prof. Anshul Jain and Asst. Prof. Sayantani Roy accompanied the students on this visit.

The students were exposed to the implementation of various concepts of printing in the press industry. The head of the unit Mr. Suryakant addressed the students and provided valuable information regarding the unit. The students also interacted with other unit heads to gain detailed insights. During the industry visit, students were divided into groups of two. They were shown the various departments and interacted with the department heads to gain knowledge regarding the latest industry trends and how printing presses actually work on daily basis. Subsequently the students were given a tour of the CTP room from where the entire operations are managed and the employees keep an eye on the same.

The head of the printing press explained the students how to relate their theoretical knowledge to practical aspects of the studies courses, further answering their queries he elucidated in terms of industrial operations. He remained a thoughtful tour guide accompanying the students throughout the establishment as he propelled student’s acquaintance with the process, design and concepts of a wonder filled Printing Press.

As a part of the visit, the students also had an opportunity to get acquainted with the working of the floor level machine where production actually takes place i.e. units of printing and publishing.

The students were delighted with the interaction and were asking different questions like how the printing industry works and how they can be industry-ready when they are done with studies. In addition to that they were elucidated more in detail about the diverse printing press technologies made use of nowadays, along with certain other wide varieties of technologies that are used to do so. To exemplify, mostly all about the Stop Press, Desk Top publishing and Page composing.

To sum it up, the visit was a practical session that showcased the mechanism to the students to make them understand the daily printing process. The students were educated regarding the various industry requirements and the technologies Dainik Bhaskar is working with.

The target of the visit was successfully achieved as the students understood the functioning of a printing press and the working of the associated machineries quite adeptly.

The visit added vitality to the atmosphere created by the Radio station visit, it turned out to be an effectual and engrossing experience in terms of practical learning and technological acquaintance. Students were delighted to the core on witnessing the outside tech world that awaits them.
