The acknowledgement of Pagir at M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women

M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women, inaugurated “Pagir” (a Tamil word meaning “to share”), is a social responsibility initiative that deals with the value of sharing. The event was inaugurated by the Consul General, Her Excellency Ms. Krongkanit Rakcharoen of The Royal Thai Consulate, Chennai.

The Principal of the school, Dr. Lalitha Balakrishnan, said that in the continuation of last year’s “Year of Daan”, the values of sharing and caring will be focused as Pagir will do its initiative to further its goal to help the needy. Through Pagir, students of the college will bring in used or new goods, such as stationeries or clothes, that might be of use for underprivileged school students or their families. 

The college will helps deliver the goods to the recipients. Shri Manoj Kumar Sonthalia, the secretary of the school was also present at the event. In her inaugurational speech, Her Excellency Ms. Rakcharoen, reiterated that sharing is a quality that has to be nurtured, and advised the students to keep sharing even when they grow up. “I always believe, the more you share, the more you gain.

This motto is the main principle of how I live,” she said. A kiosk containing items collected from M.O.P.’s students was then unveiled. The collected stationeries were distributed to the students of M.O.P Vaishnav School, Triplicane and Chennai School, Kotturpuram. The distribution will take place in some phases of various orphanages, old age homes and to the underprivileged members of the community.
