Perambur Railway Hospital gets NBE Scroll of Honour

It is time to celebrate for Railway Hospital at Perambur at it received the top honour. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has conferred the 2014 NBE Scroll of Honour upon the Hospital, for its outstanding commitment towards preserving the highest standards in higher medical education, clinical research and training.
The shield and citation was received by Dr V. Nirmala Devi, Managing Director, Railway Hospital, Perambur from the Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu during the 19th convocation of the National Board of Examinations held at Vigyan Bhavan (New Delhi) on 21 September.
The honour was conferred under the category of teaching institutions in recognition towards its efforts of maintaining high standards in higher medical education, clinical research and training.
 
The Railway Hospital at Perambur is a 500-bed multi specialty hospital with a daily outpatient attendance of about 1200 patients. A referral hospital, it caters to patients from all over the country. 
This teaching hospital has been partners with the National Board of Examinations since long, and currently, it imparts postgraduate training in general medicine, general surgery, obstetrics & gynaecology, orthopaedic surgery, Anaesthesiology, paediatrics, cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery and Otolaryngology.
The postgraduates are given comprehensive training and are well-equipped to observe the highest standards of patient care.  Since the inception of the DNB (Diplomate of National Board) programme, more than 500 postgraduates have graduated from this institution, and many have received gold medals.
