Asur is a 2020 Hindi language Voot Select’s web series directed by Oni Sen and produced by Tanveer Bookwala. The series mainly stares at Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti as Dhananjay Rajput and Nikhil Nair.

They are playing the role of brilliant crime investigators. The story revolves around the serial killing of current times. The story starts with the murder of a lady, who was brutally bitten and then murdered in her home’s kitchen.

Dhananjay was appointed as the investigation officer for the murder of the lady, who intensely investigated the murder. Here Nikhil enters the story who was a brilliant student and a constant prize winner of the academy in which he studied.

Nikhil was kind-hearted, honest, and a very famous lawyer who lived abroad with her wife and daughter and was called India to fight the case of the murder of that lady.

With his study and investigations, Nikhil found that the lady murdered was no other than Dhananjay’s wife and he concluded that Dhananjay has murdered his wife and Dhananjay was sent to jail.

After he was sent to jail, crimes were breaking all their limits, and the common part of all murders was that only the genuine hearted, kind, and innocent people who were involved in some social works were killed.

As this information was reaching to Dhananjay’s ears he concluded that now Nikhil will be the next target of the killer, by that
time Nikhil also knew that Dhananjay was not guilty. But before they would have approached each other, the killer kidnapped Nikhil.

Nikhil was threatened by the killer that he should help him doing murders or he will kill his wife and daughter, so Nikhil accepted to help him in his murders.

As there was no other brilliant investigator in the department Dhananjay was bailed to resolve the issues going on.

Nikhil being an intelligent man murdered a person and left proof which was made it clear that he is been forced to do the murders, and was relieved from the killer’s prison.

Then in episode 6 of the web series story went in flashback with Arshad Warsi, when he went to a village to investigate the murder of a priest who was murdered by his own son.

His son murdered him because he was always told that he is born in Asur’s time period and not in god’s time and he should be killed. He was also told that to kill Asur God Vishnu has to take his tenth incarnation.

He got frustrated because of his father’s blames of calling him Asur. The same happened with him when Dhananjay didn’t give him a chance to cultivate again and he was sent to strict jail except for child jail.

This shock made him more cruel and harsh and he then his own philosophy of calling Lord Vishnu to Earth from heaven to come and fight with him.

He thought himself very brave and in reality, also he was extraordinarily intelligent. They’re in jail, he had three followers if him who got attracted to his views, but one day a piece of information came that jail caught fire and the four, three followers and the Asur are dead and the body of any of them isn’t recognized.

Then coming back to present Dhananjay caught the killer in the room where some innocents were stuck.

There was limited availability of oxygen and Arshad asked the killer to either saves the life of those people or give yours then killer showed humanity and saved the life of the innocents.

On the other side, Nikhil was asked to save the life of his daughter or those innocents stuck in the room and he also showed humanity and sacrificed her daughter.

The story here ends in a lot of suspense which is about to be clarified in the next season. This season with eight episodes each of approximately 35 mins is very interesting and a large group of people is forced to watch.
