LUDO :- comedy, trill, and action movie
Anurag Basu’s “LUDO” which blend in character, stories and genres start off with a murder by Sattu bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi). Then 4 parallel stories and characters emerge, so do some varying situation.
The film gets an opening scene with two characters, with shades of black and white — one of which is played by Basu himself — contemplating the purposefulness of life and death, as they settle for a game of ludo. They are both the narrators and gods of destiny, in writing the fate of the principal characters. In other words, ludo is their game and the dice that unites these individual stories is Sattu Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), a very amiable gangster and the nucleus, to which every character revolves around.
There is a yellow square in the form of Akash (Aditya Roy Kapoor) and Ahana (Sanya Malhotra) who find themselves in a pickle when they discover that a video clip of them having sex has gone viral on the internet. With Ahana’s wedding scheduled in a few days to another man, they try to get to the bottom of this.
The shades of red in Bittu’s is indicative of the blood in his hands and the past “sins”. Bittu (Abhishek Bachchan) is released from jail after six years only to realise that his wife and little daughter have moved on.
At the same time, when a doting wife, Pinky (Sana Fatima Shaikh) finds out that her husband has been accused of a murder, she runs to her childhood sweetheart, Alok aka Alu (Rajkumar Rao) to help her bail him out. Because of the love Alok have for Pinky since the school times he couldn’t say no to her. Alok and Pinky Form a Green Square.
And elsewhere, a down on luck salesman, Rahul (Rohit Saraf) and a nurse who is repeatedly bullied at work, Sheeja (Pearle Maney) go about their respective days, not knowing that soon their lives will take a dramatic turn. Rahul and Sheeja form a Blue Square.
At the onset, ‘Ludo’ seems to strike with an interesting premise. The catchy opening track, a compelling start and a quirky build up manages to set an intriguing tone.
Conclusion– This movie is worth watching. This is overall a very interesting concept to showcase a story through different squares of ludo and the dice and also it was one of the best movies of the year 2020. So, I would say that one can watch this movie and it is also available on Netflix.
