7 MONTHS OF FARMER’S PROTEST

The protest against three questionable farm laws, which started last year, will complete 7 months on 26th of June and the day will be marked as “SAVE AGRICULTURE, SAVE DEMOCRACY DAY”, nationally.

A large number of ranchers, generally from Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh, started their protest in November at three distinctive borders of Delhi, requesting the Center to nullify these laws. The exhibitions at Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur borders additionally got support from social activists, some ideological groups just as local people.

An enormous number of farmers, including from Uttar Pradesh, are going to join the protesters at Delhi’s borders on June 26 to stamp seven months of their fomenting against the three agri laws authorized last year, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) said on Thursday. Also, a huge caravan of protestors has left Ganganagar in Rajasthan today for the Shahjahanpur line, driven by Grameen Kisan Mazdoor Samiti (GKS). Additionally, ranchers from Bagpat and Saharanpur are expected at Ghazipur line, driven by BKU (Tikait), the statement said.

On the 24th of June, Thursday, the farmers also celebrated the birth anniversary of fifteenth century Indian spiritualist artist and holy person Kabir Das saying “Communal harmony is a hallmark of this movement, and Sant Kabir’s birth anniversary was celebrated with great respect today.” The SKM also said that the farmers are proceeding their “social blacklist and dark banner fights against heads of BJP and united gatherings in different places.” The Central government however, has not declared any news about the farm laws but the farmers seem to stick to their point. The Haryana Farmer Union stated- “It shows the resolute and provocative demeanor of the BJP that it keeps on doing public projects that too in the wake of blaming farmers for being (Covid) super-spreaders, rather than settling the authentic requests with them.”

Farmers are protesting against the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers’ (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
