Agra the city of wonders, where people visit from different countries to witness the rich traditional taste and of course one of the seven wonders The Taj. The city is home to one of the seven wonder and 3 three United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) certified tourist places. The city is a treat to the history and archeology lovers because of its great significant value in the history. Tourism is one of the basic sources of living for the poor people. The city of Agra is famous for its history with greatest of the empires and the unbeatable kings with the great political influencers. The city of Agra has always been religious and commercial center for centuries. The heart of people here are as grand as Buland Darwaza.

As every city holds some special features, Agra holds beauty and infrastructure from hundreds of years. The most visited places in Agra are Taj Mahal, Akbar’s Tomb, Mehetab Bagh, Chini Ka Rauza and Mariam-uz-zamani. Every place comes with a different story and circumstances.

Taj Mahal

The epitome of love The Taj, was built in 16th century by emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his third wife Mumtaz Mahal who died in 1631. The Taj is fully made up of white marble (sang mar-mar) which are expensive. The structure took around 17 years to complete, draining all the economic resources and treasure of the kingdom. The taj is strategically located in the middle of the Alluvial plains between Ganga and Yamuna. The art and the beautifully crafted walls are the main reasons for tourism as the walls tells the history itself.

Agra Fort

The Red Giant has a great significant in the history as Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his own son Aurangzeb. The location of Taj Mahal is very precisely built that when Shah Jahan was in prison, he was able to watch the Taj at the river bank of Yamuna and remember his wife. This is a UNESCO certified site built by Akbar in 1565-1573 to protect the kingdom from invaders. The strength of the building can still be felt by just touching the walls.

Taj Museum

The Taj Museum which is the center of attraction for many who are interested in history and archeology. The museum is located inside Taj Mahal and was established in 1982 with a lot of historical evidences, the tools that were in use, traditional artifacts.

Fatehpur Sikri

Fatehpur Sikri is founded by the Mugal emperor Akbar in 1569, 35km away from Agra. The place holds a high historic value because a saint predicted that Akbar’s son would be a great ruler, the same year Akbar’s son was born and he shifted his capital to Fatehpur Sikri. He named his son Salim and the time spent in Fatehpur made the place even more beautiful and a must place to visit by the tourists.

Food Culture of Agra

The Indian city with big hearted people has many things to offer to every category of people from rich to poor from vegetarian to non- vegetarian. India is a hub of dishes and tastes, being a part of India there are tons of variety in foods and dishes and its worth every penny. Agra is also famous for Mugal influenced food. I have listed some food items that you must try on your visit to this city, to witness the exotic amalgamation of species.

Petha

The world famous Petha is one of the specialties to this place, there are enormous verities present in Petha. You will get many tastes in different types of Pethas. Basically, Petha is made of sugary syrup and white pumpkin and cut into different shapes, this also comes with different nuts and flavors. The fantastic experience is worth taking. This can be easily available in any local sweetshop due to the demand.

Mughlai Food

As a historical influence the tastebuds of Agra still have the royalty in the food and so do the people. There are many food courts which offers you the experience of Mughal food. The style and the technique that are used in making of the food is still traditional and feels like finger licking good. Comes in many verities in veg and non-veg so, everyone can have a delighted experience.

The food culture of Agra is very famous among youngsters and teenagers as, there are tons of verities in fast foods and delicious deserts.
