Before digging deep into this, the basic and obvious question that arises is, what fashion weeks are meant for? And the short answer is, “Marketing”.  There is no way better option to get people to take notice when they all have to showcase their talent, creativity within the span of an hour.

It takes designer trillions of hours to complete one design and the designers are unfortunately bound to showcase those designs within a few hours, which really demands courage to take up such a big responsibility and pressure.

But in today’s time, the fashion shows are conducted in a not so fairway. Many of the budding designers don’t even get a platform to showcase their unique creativity and hard work.

Only if you have great contact with existing big shots of the fashion industry, only then you get a chance, to present your creativity in front of the whole world.

Fashion week doesn’t just, take place for the brands either. Despite the changes that have swept the industry, they are still important places for buyers and editors to see the designer and meet each other.

And yes, the fashion show is still relevant because it is the main source or chance for the designers to show off a particular aesthetic, particular mood, particular feel, or point of view as a result fashion shows can be more conceptual, focused on a higher level idea.

A lot of designs that we are shown during the runway is really a form of wearable art that mostly focuses on the beauty rather than the functionality of the costume. It might be seen that whatever we are showed on the runway are actually not practical, as flaunting dresses with such designs on the street, is not possible.  Because every day isn’t Halloween or fancy dress competition. Those designs, do make it on store sometimes, toned down the version that you have seen during the fashion show.

If fashion shows sometimes have a reputation of being shocking because of their other own purposes popularly known as “publicity “.

Finally, there’s a matter of prestige, not every designer affords to put their design on the runway show, and this is a big problem which a lot of designers faces, even they have a lot more talent but the need of funds can’t make it feasible for them, to participate in competitions of glitz and glamor.
