WORKSHOP IN MAKING PAPERBAGS AND CRAFTING JEWELRY FOR EMPOWERING WOMEN

ROOT TRUST is an NGO that works for the welfare of underprivileged citizen in the slum areas of the country. Recently, the organization conducted  a workshop for EMPOWERING WOMEN in developing  their financial needs independently and the primary motive of  the WORKSHOP is to teach them the work of crafting like paper bag making,  jewellery making and etc.This will help them to make all these products on their own which can be sold and a big help for their source of income .

The workshop was conducted for underprivileged women and children  last  January 27, Sunday at Cinthadripet slum, before Pallavan house.  MTC office (Opposite Madras Gymkhana club) area. . 

With the proper planning of Mrs. Sunitha Shirley, Founder of Chennai, Based  Root Trust  and her volunteers’ team had successfully execute the workshop. All women and youngsters participated enthusiastically and eagerly enquired about making it as a business opportunity for them to learn and to bring Women to this outer world with self-esteem by providing them a knowledge.

And hence, evidence shows that putting economic resources in women’s hands is the best way to accelerate development and reduce poverty, we, the working women should help others to become what they want to be and let the women entrepreneurs emerge at its best.

Chief Guest for this event Dr.Suneel, Founder and Managing Trustee of Ungalukagha Charitable Trust lauded Mrs.Sunitha Shirley, Founder of Root Trust, for her tireless devoted efforts to support and motivation to the underprivileged women and children living in slums in and around Chennai. Also, he wished her for timely taken this  concept for making paper bags, is the need of the hour to eradicate plastic bags.

Around 32 women and 28 children from the slum participated in this workshop and successfully went back happily with what leaned besides handful of prizes given by the chief guest in the presence of Mrs. Sunitha Shirley, Founder of Root Trust.  And at the end of the workshop participants residing in the slum hugged and blessed Mrs.Sunitha Shirley,  the founder of Root Trust for supporting them for  a new lease of life.
