Since the time COVID 19 has become the headline of every leading daily, it has wreak havoc, in the history of humanity, taking a severe toll on the lives of many. Amid the pandemic, the social media has become overwhelmingly active in spreading rumour.

With a spike in the number of cases over a period of one month, social media has also contributed to some Dos and Don’ts in terms of home remedies and what spreads the virus.

A quick look at some of these information which are myths and some other which even though doesn’t have any scientific evidence, works good for general well-being of people.

Poultry spreads COVID 19

As of now, there has been no test that suggests poultry communicates or carries the COVID 19 virus and it is safe to consume poultry products.

Drinking warm water washes off the virus from your throat

There is no evidence that warm drinks will protect against viral infections,” according to Ron Eccles, an expert in respiratory diseases at Cardiff University in the UK and former director of the Common Cold Centre, in an interview with BBC.

However, drinking warm water and gurgling your throat with warm water is definitely a good home remedy and there is absolutely no harm in doing so as a preventive measure.

Eating garlic helps prevent the infection

The WHO says, though garlic has a lot of antimicrobial advantages, but it is not helpful in case of this virus. However, garlic is an anti-oxidant in general and helps reduce bad cholesterol. So consuming garlic on a daily basis is definitely healthy and must be included in your diet.

One of the most forwarded message, “Heat kills Coronavirus” and is this piece of information is being attributed to UNICEF.

Although UNICEF mentioned that there is still not scientific evidence that warm weather kills the virus, taking some sunshine early in the morning is definitely health which enhances your immunity and Vitamin D levels.

Being responsible citizens, it is our duty to cross check and verify the messages that we receive through social media from credible sources and doing our own research thoroughly.

A lot of research has to be done on the Dos and Don’ts of Covid-19 but adhering to healthy habits along with staying at home and personal hygiene will ensure that we will beat Covid-19.
