No jabs, no job: Fiji to make Covid-19 vaccine compulsory for all workers
Fiji, a country in the south pacific has decided that if workers haven’t got vaccinated, then there will be no job for them. Countries are trying to make new strategies and plan to convince the public to take their jab as it will protect them from variants. Fiji has announced plans to make the coronavirus vaccine compulsory for all workers as it battles a runaway outbreak of the delta variant, with the prime minister issuing a blunt new strategy message: “no jabs, no job”.
This was the appreciable initiate taken by the country’s government to stop this pandemic. The government requires all civil servants, private sector employees, and employers to get vaccinated if they want to keep working.
The Prime minister, Frank Bainimarama said all public servants in the South Pacific nation of 930,000 must go on leave if they have not had their first injection by August 15 and would be dismissed they did not receive their second by November 1.
He further added that “it does not matter if you are the CEO of a company, a sole trader, or a salaried employee, you must be vaccinated to continue working, or else that business will risk being shut down. No jabs, no job – that is what the science tells us is safest from coronavirus and that is now the policy of the government and enforced through the law,”.

Bainimarama said: “The good news is that the coronavirus vaccines are effective and we are expanding them quickly. The AstraZeneca vaccine which we are administering in Fiji does very well. It has been shown to offer 92% protection against hospitalization from the Delta variant of Covid-19 present in the country.
Many countries have made vaccines compulsory for eligible people to prevent more cases of severe diseases and death. As per the updates Fiji recorded 860 new cases of COVID-19 and three related deaths in the 24 hours on Friday.
