8 Food that contributes to increasing fertility.

Infertility is a rising concern in the lives of modern couples. Over the last few decades, increasing changes in lifestyle are considered to be one of the reasons for infertility, believed by a certain gynecologist. Lifestyle doesn’t necessarily mean living but also includes a healthy diet, regular exercise, and mental well-being. Other than the biological issues,  factors such as exposure to alcohol, drugs, stress, or any other psychological issues are responsible for infertility in both men and women.

Infertility is still a taboo subject in our society. Often the women are preconceived to suffer from infertility in a relationship, regardless of whether they are infertile or not. And also it has some negative social impacts on the lives of infertile couples. In such a situation, education and awareness interventions address understanding of the prevalence and determinants of infertility is essential.

As mentioned, nutrients and a balanced diet do contribute to improving fertility levels. For -example, eating a balanced diet of healthy fats, complex carbs, moderate dairy products, and protein will provide one with a well-rounded nutritional plan. And apart from that,  there are certain foods that improve the fertility level in both, males and females.

  1. Berries

Berries such as raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries are rich in natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory phytonutrients, which help in boosting fertility levels in both men and women. It is also considered a good source of folic acid and vitamin C, which helps with healthy fetal development after conception.

  1. Greek Yoghurt and Cheeses.

Fatty food is considered to be a good source of boosting fertility. They nourish the body entirely and help in conceiving faster. Rich in calcium, probiotics, and vitamin D improve ovulation and boost the immune system. Also, an ample amount of protein from each food will reinforce the odds of a successful pregnancy through more precise ovulation cycles. So you don’t have to feel guilty  about snacking on Greek yogurt and different kinds of cheese when you’re plopped on the sofa

Beans are packed with iron and proteins, an essential nutrient required when trying to conceive, as low levels of iron in the body lead to the production of less healthy eggs. And lentils are an excellent source of folic acid, that aids with conception and helps develop a healthy embryo. According to the results of the studies conducted, shows that women who receive their protein from plant-based sources, rather than animal products have more success in tracking their monthly cycle.

Quinoa is an amazing whole grain and a rich source of fiber too. It also helps in stabilizing blood sugar levels and even regulates the menstrual cycle. Again swapping animal-based protein for plant-based protein like quinoa helios in the chances of conception. It is also rich in protein, zinc, and folic acid.

Dry fruits are a great source of protein, vitamins, and minerals, especially Walnuts which is packed with omega-3 and omega-6s that help your body regulate hormone and maintain healthy brain functions. According to the research, men who consume walnuts regularly experience improved semen health and result in better motility. Nuts have high quantities of selenium, a mineral that declines the chromosomal damages in eggs and helps to boost the fertility level.

Eggs are a very good source of vitamins, which boost the fertility level. Especially the egg yolk, which most people avoid due to the high content of calories, is rich in vitamin B and essential omega-3s. The latter also increases the embryo’s health and assist in maintaining its development after conception. It also increases the level of fertility and reduces the risk of some birth defects.

Stress also plays a vital role in reducing fertility. Especially for women, physical stress is an influencing factor of infertility, and it is more evident in working women as they have longer work hours and stressful jobs. Options such as exercise, therapy meditation, yoga, and support groups have shown to lower physical stress, hence improving infertility in both men and women.
