Minister Parshottam began Sagar Parikrama Phase X from Chennai, interacts with fishers

Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, began the Sagar Parikrama Phase X on Friday, travelling onboard a Coast Guard ship from Chennai to enter coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh to interact with fishers and stakeholders in the fisheries sector.

Addressing the media at Chennai Port, Union Minister stated Sagar Parikrma is PM Narendra Modi’s ambitious project.

This programme was launched with the goal of better understanding the needs and challenges of fishermen. We are now embarking on our journey from Chennai on the Coast Guard ship Sujay. This will lead us to Krishnapattinam. Where we will be participating in a fish food festival tomorrow. Then we’ll head to Nellore.

In response to media inquiries about the detention of Tamil fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy, he stated, “We came across the Sri Lankan fisherman issues and now we are planning to give new equipment to 10000 fisherman to help them navigate.” This project would be carried out with the assistance of ISRO.
