H.C.A.S. celebrated World Environment Day.

On 8/6/2020, World environment day was celebrated in HCAS as the Director Dr. Susan Marthandan, Principal Dr.S. Thirumagan Dr. S. Azagu HOD Dept of Computer Application took part in this ceremony as Dr. A. Ganesh Kumar Dept of Microbiology delivered Environment Day address.

One hundred and twenty students plus fifty on Facebook took part in this virtual proceedings. Dr. Ganesh Kumar spoke about the importance of the environment and how nations should go to preserving it.

The world has only 2% of pure water to drink we need to go to a great extent to preserve it.

The former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalaam once said the importance of preserving water in India to save the country from the water crisis We throw wastes and litter environment and how plastics became a hot subject of discussion some time ago.

The TNSPCB banned the use of plastics and plastic bags because of pollution and it is in vogue now. Also, He spoke of Vermicomposting i.e. how organic waste is converted into manure and described this process undertaken in HCAS

The students of HCAS participate in environment preservation activities and he described in detail how college management encourages such activities.

Finally, he stressed the importance of environmental studies a subject in undergraduate II year courses in sciences and Arts at the University of Madras, and how one should learn to treat the environment carefully surrounding him. 

He parried questions as the moderator Dr. S. Azagu forwarded questions from students to him and a lengthy discussion followed in a lively session.
