Schools in Tamil Nadu waiting for a government nod to open
The virus has been killed more than lakh of people around the world so it is a very typical situation for all Indians and others. So this is not the right time to reopen the school in India before September. COVID-19 is now under control affected rate reducing day by day. We need to keep in mind that the decline in COVID-19 positive cases is only because of continuing social distancing and staying indoors other than for necessities.
Tamil Nadu was one of the severely affected states on corona cases, so maybe the state government is still apprehensive of the spread of COVID if schools reopen and thatâs why maybe they are not ready for the same. Schools of Tamil Nadu are waiting for government notice to open in the state. In other states, the reopening of schools and colleges has begun. Tamil Nadu neighboring Pondicherry announced the reopening of schools and colleges.
K.R. Neelakantan, Principal, Bhavan Vidya Mandir School, Ashok Nagar, Chennai, told IANS, “The government should at least approve the opening of higher classes. Once the classes are open in this category, we can try to reopen classes from 9 to 11 and then at a later stage of junior classes. The Covid-19 cases are coming down and the reported fresh cases and active cases have also fallen, hence it is the appropriate time that schools are reopened.â
Students can easily lose concentration of their studies in online classes since there are no face-to-face lectures which results in a lack of knowledge. Teachers and management are also worried about the lack of interaction between students and teachers.
