Learning maths for kids has always been a challenge  down the ages but not anymore. As the Kerala Govt is soon to introduce the revolutionary mathematics learning look method called RME (realistic mathematics education) by setting up exclusive units through the length and breadth of the state with the help of the local bodies.
For starters the scheme titled ‘Manchadi’ would be introduced in 5 panchayats in the wayanad district of Kerala soon and would be gradually spread to other parts of the state.
Education experts are of the opinion that the module would help the kids to identify and learn maths as an integral part of the learning curve and also solve real time problems with alacrity in the social sphere.
The path breaking system was first introduced in Holland and later was adopted in UK, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Japan etc. Local bodies interested in setting up this module should find a space of 1000 sq ft with 10 volunteers and 3 retired school teachers.
The Govt would also provide the service of animators to these units to make them more vibrant and student friendly.Educational experts feel that such modules would make the students look at maths with a sense of fun and simplify complex aspects of maths to the kids.
