There is more from Indian Army, nation’s security is the priority

The complete proposal and acquisition for 155MM Excalibur artillery ammunition from United States of America (USA) has been fast tracked. According to sources from Defence Ministry, this was done keeping in view the need of precision guided munitions (PGMs) in the army.

And it became possible owing to delegation of powers to the service headquarters and delegation of emergency powers to the vice chiefs of respective service head quarters.

Also, 155mm Dhanush Towed Gun system is said to be under induction, once put into use it will improve the fire power of Indian artillery qualitatively. Various options for its employment were discussed during the recently held Army Commanders Conferece (ACC).

The conference also focused on adopting various dimensions of training like space, artificial intelligence, much upgraded military education. The scope of training on these aspects is planned at different levels and shall be rolled out at earliest.

The system of Honour Code was discussed in detail during the conference. It was decided to roll out the code at the earliest.

Honour code in officers training academies instill due moral and ethical standards wherein individual cadets are trained to behave as desired as per service ethos.

In case of aberrations, there is a self-correcting mechanism composed of cadets only who take the course correction of individual cadets. Focusing on higher defence management and restructuring the conference focused on the need for Joint Services Act.

At the moment, each defence service has its own Act, establishing Joint Act will lead to faster integration. The restructuring of Army Head Quarters is in the process and the, some approvals have been received from the government in this regard. However, the complete restructuring will be taken up only after total approval is obtained.

The conference also focused on including military nursing officer as ex-servicemen. Giving them that status will enable them to obtain certain privileges which were not available currently. Army HQ is taking up measures in this regard to ensure ex-servicemen status is available to military nursing officer.

Conference highlighted that Army HQ is progressing the issue of providing pension to Emergency Commission officers of 1965 and 1971 with Ministry of Defence and is hopeful of seeing good outcome at the earliest.

Officers Automated Structured Information System (OASIS) has been rolled out for full automation of records of officers. OASIS has been hosted on Army Intranet and has details of every officer’s data from pre-commissioning to retirement.

Employment of non-empanelled officers have been made attractive and the options were discussed in ACC. Much more number of non-empanelled officers now shall be selected for foreign missions as well as UN tenures.

All opportunities shall be provided to these officers for meeting their personal and professional aspirations.
