IIT Jodhpur and Masai School Launch New Interdisciplinary Degrees
BS in Management and Technology and MBA Technology aim to blend tech skills, leadership and industry-ready learning

The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur has partnered with Masai School to launch two new interdisciplinary degree programmes: a BS in Management and Technology and an MBA Technology. The collaboration is designed to prepare learners for a rapidly changing technology-driven economy by combining academic rigour, management thinking and practical industry relevance.
This is a notable move because it reflects one of the few instances where an IIT has joined hands with a private outcome-focused education platform to co-offer degree programmes. The initiative is also in line with the broader shift in Indian higher education toward multidisciplinary learning, flexible pathways and stronger industry integration.
A new education model
The two programmes are built around the idea that students and professionals need more than just subject knowledge. They need to understand technology, business, society and leadership together. IIT Jodhpur says the aim is to make high-quality education more accessible while keeping it future-oriented and useful in real-world settings.
The BS in Management and Technology is open to students from all streams after Class XII, making it an IIT-affiliated degree available even to non-science students. Admission will be through a qualifier test. The programme carries 141 credits across eight semesters and includes a balanced mix of technology, management and social sciences.
Aligned with NEP 2020, the BS programme also offers flexible exit options after the first, second or third year. That gives students the freedom to step into the workforce with credentials at different stages, depending on their career goals.
Focus on working professionals
The MBA Technology programme is designed for working professionals who want to build stronger leadership skills in technology-driven business environments. With 66 credits and a work-integrated project, the course covers strategic management, digital enterprise, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and product-oriented learning.
This makes the programme especially relevant for professionals looking to move into leadership, strategy, product management or tech-enabled business roles. In a job market where digital transformation is reshaping nearly every sector, such hybrid learning models are becoming increasingly important.
Campus experience and IIT identity
Students in both programmes will also get access to IIT Jodhpur’s campus ecosystem, including immersions, clubs, festivals and library facilities. That gives them a chance to experience the academic and cultural environment of the institute while studying through the new programmes.
On successful completion, graduates will receive a degree from IIT Jodhpur and will be recognised as IIT Jodhpur alumni. That association is likely to add strong value in the job market, especially for learners seeking credibility along with practical skills.
What the leadership said
Speaking on the launch, IIT Jodhpur Director Prof. Avinash Kumar Agarwal said the new programmes are meant to prepare learners not just for careers, but for the complexity of the real world. He said the courses combine technology, management and human understanding in a structured learning experience that is both rigorous and relevant.
Dr. Anuj Pal Kapoor, Associate Dean of Executive Education, said leadership today requires the ability to connect disciplines and make decisions in a changing world. He described the BS programme as a foundation and the MBA Technology as a way to transform both careers and thinking.
Dr. Deepak Kumar Saxena, Head of the School of Management and Entrepreneurship, said management education must go beyond frameworks and build independent thinking, decisiveness and impact. He added that the new programmes are designed to produce graduates who are not only employable but also capable of creating value across industries.
Masai Co-Founder and CEO Prateek Shukla said students from any background should not have to restart their journey just because they did not study science in school. He said the partnership creates a credible path for learners to gain technical and management skills and step into the workforce with confidence.
Why it matters
This collaboration highlights a growing trend in Indian higher education: the need for degrees that are flexible, interdisciplinary and closely connected to industry needs. By combining management, technology and applied learning, IIT Jodhpur and Masai School are trying to create a model that matches the demands of the modern economy.
