CAA protests take over Chennai, Over 3,500 people booked

Protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) have been happening at various locations across this nation, Chennai too was not an exception to this.

According to sources, over 3,400 cases are said to have been booked on Chennaites so far with regards to the protests. Cases were registered after people protested against CAA and NRC here over the last two days.

Valluvar Kottam, Thirumangalam, Foreshore Estate, Triplicane and Sashtri Bhavan were among the places to witness protests. Sources further say, more than 40 organisations are said to have planned to undertake a protest with regards to CAA and NRC on Thursday.


The protestors have gone ahead with their plan though they did not receive the required permission. Similarly, a large number of protestors have gathered at Chepauk on Friday. Though the number of people in the beginning was small as the time went ahead it witnessed an increase.

The protests did not remain regulated to the capital city of Tamil Nadu alone. It spread to other locations of the state. Protestors turned out in large numbers in Vaniyambadi, Coimbatore and Ranipet and Nagapattinam.
