The Guru Nanak Centre for Consultancy and Outreach Initiatives (GNCCOI) at Guru Nanak College, Velachery, Chennai, joined forces with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chennai, and the Greater Chennai Traffic Police: Transport and Road Safety Commissionerate, Tamil Nadu, to organize the National Youth Week-2024 event on Road Safety Awareness. The event took place on the 12th of January, 2024, at the prestigious Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Auditorium within the premises of Guru Nanak College. The focal point of this initiative was to instil a sense of responsibility and awareness among the youth, particularly the first-year undergraduate students who actively participated in the program.

The illustrious gathering at the event included Shri. K. Kunhammed, the State Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) for Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, Shri. Shanmuga Sundaram, IAS, Commissioner of the State Transport Authority, Dr M. Senthil Kumar, the State NSS Officer, Dr. Vaneetha Agarwal, NSS Coordinator from the University of Madras, along with esteemed college authorities such as Dr T.K. Avvai Kothai, Principal of Guru Nanak College, Dr. Anitha Malishetty, Vice Principal, and Dr P. V. Kumaraguru, the Controller of Examinations.
The chief guests addressed the students on critical aspects of road safety, emphasizing the significance of using public transport, and the importance of wearing helmets, and elucidated the plans of the Greater Chennai Traffic Police Department. The event successfully served its purpose of enlightening young minds on road safety practices and encouraging them to actively contribute to creating a safer road environment in the city.
