Arani is a Lok Sabha (Parliament of India) constituency in Tamil Nadu. It was created during the 2008 assembly delimitation from the former Vandavasi constituency.

The Parliamentary Constituency of Arani is one of the 39 Lok Sabha Constituencies of Tamil Nadu. 1,097,865 is the total electorate count in the Arani Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 12). Out of these 552,876 number of electorates are males and the remaining 544,989 are belong to the female category as the Election commission of India 2009 reports suggest.

It was created after the implementation of the Presidential Notification of the delimitation of the parliamentary constituencies in 2008. It constitutes of six Vidhan Sabha segments of which one is reserved for the SC category and the constituency currently has over 1,097,000 electors. Arani is a suburb belonging to the Chennai city and belongs to the Tiruvallur District and stands at a height of 7 m.

Tiruvallur District has a population of over 3,725,000 and a population density of 1,049 people per sq km making it the 70th most populated district of the country. Over 2001-2011, the population growth rate was over 35% and 55% of the population is urbanized. It has a sex ratio of 983 females per 1000 males and an average literacy rate is over 83%. Tamil is the official language in the area.
