A charismatic personality can revive the fortune

Only a person with a charismatic appeal can revive the fortunes of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamilnad, said popular film actor,  Tamil playwright and BJP leader S Ve Shekhar.

He was sharing his views with Infodea recently. Dravidian politics have been dominating Tamilnadu for a very longtime now, BJP needs a leader who is well-known among masses. Only a person with popularity can help build the votebank for the national party, he said.

It is popularity of their leaders that helped DMK and AIADMK to create a space for themselves on the political front in Tamilnadu. DMK and AIADMK could carve out their edge due to Kalaingnar Karunanidhi and MGR and J Jayalalithaa.

Filmdom has been influencing politics in Tamilnadu for a very long time, and BJP has to look for a similar alternative, he said. Asked if he was in the race to become the president of BJP in Tamilnadu, he said he joined the party deriving inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

He was neither offered any position or any responsibility post his joining the party. My focus was always on working on  the field and enhancing votebank for the party. He didn’t knew about the regional leadership of the party.

Speaking about making popular film star Rajnikanth a part of BJP and giving him the responsibility of party leadership in Tamilnadu, he said, filmstar aspires to carve out his own space on the political arena of Tamilnadu, so he would not join BJP. However, his views are quite similar to that of BJP, owing to which me might support BJP, said S Ve Shekhar.
