Over 15k runners make Mumbai Marathon successful

Flagged off by master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, the second edition of the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon conducted at the Bandra Kurla Complex R2 grounds ended on a successful note.
Runners participated in varied categories like 21k, 10k and 5k in the rainy morning and had a fruitful time amid the weather and running across the new route from Bandra Kurla Complex. More than 6000 passionate runners took part in the 21K run event while another 6000 ran 10k and the 5K run saw more than 3000 runners. A total prize money of Rs 15 lakhs was given to winners across categories. In the 21 km event, Dnyaheshwar was the first clocking a timing of (01:09:05), 2nd position was bagged by Jagmal Ramchander with a timing (01:14:24) and 3rd position was Subhash Chandra with timing (01:15:47)
In women category half marathon 21km, 1st position was bagged by Aarti with a timing of (01:22:53), 2nd position as bagged by Anita Rani (01:32:06) and 3rd position was bagged by Neha Grover with a timing of (1:43:18).
Among male in the 10K run, 1st position was Amit (00:32:11), 2nd position was bagged by Pramod Kumar (00:32:14) and 3rd position Suraj Yadav (00:32:46). In omen 10K run, 1st position was secured by Poonam Singh (00:39:15), 2nd position Gita Wathgure (00:40:00) and 3rd position Chandrawati Rajwade (00:41:32)
Speaking on the occasion, Sachin Tendulkar, said. “The IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon is a great success. My experience last year was fantastic, and I had challenged the participants that we would surpass all expectation in 2017. Today truly the event has exceeded all expectations in terms of participation. This shows the awareness created, and that the initiative is reaching out to people and promoting healthy living. This event promotes good health, and in the coming years we will have healthier people with an improved lifestyle. The marathon encourages individuals to be fit, and more active on day to day basis. I believe good fitness will always bring out more consistency and better results.”
Vighnesh Shahane, CEO, IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon said, “We are proud to have successfully completed the second edition of the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon. The incredible atmosphere and passion seen among participants was fabulous. From ages 18 to 70 and above, the runners have shown their commitment to fitness and participated in runs across categories. This year the participation escalated, which motivates us, and we intend to raise the bar year after year.”
