Awareness campaign on Oil & Gas Conservation inaugurated

A mass awareness campaign on Oil & Gas conservation called SAKSHAM 2018, themed “How to Save Fuel for Better Environment and Health” was inaugurated at Indian Oil Bhavan, Chennai recently by Tmt. S. Madumathi, IAS, Commissioner, Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection, Government of Tamilnadu.

Mr S Senthilkumar, regional level coordinator, Oil Industry, SR & Executive Director (RS), Southern Region, IOCL, Mr T N Ramakrishnan, General Manager, Business & Network Planning, BPCL, Mr Sandeep Maheshwari, Head – retail, South Zone, HPCL and Mr M K Biswas, Zonal General Manager, GAIL addressed the event.

As a part of this movement, school children, youth, housewives, drivers, mechanics, fleet operators, industries, farmers, etc. will be involved in various fuel conservation activities from second fortnight of January to the first fortnight of February. During the inaugural event, awards will be presented to children, oil industries and other achievers of the last Oil & Gas Conservation Fortnight (OGCF) from all state capitals and Union Territories.

“Bicycle Day” and “Fuel Efficient Driving Contest” for car owners will be conducted to promote fuel efficient driving. Other activities like “Cyclothon, Walkathon, Marathon, car rallies, radio events, intersection/ road activities”, etc. will be conducted across the country with active participation of the public. Seminars and workshops on conservation pertaining to transport, domestic, and agriculture & industry sectors will be organized for people to create awareness and imparting training.

Further to it, awareness campaigns will be conducted through embossing conservation tips on cash memos at retail outlets/ LPG distributorship, also through IVRS of OMCs, SMSs on oil conservation tips, etc. During this period, mass awareness will be created through Kisan Call Centre in the form of tips/ Jingles on petroleum conservation. Workshop will be conducted at retail outlets for autos, taxi drivers, mechanics and two – wheeler users.
