SEVALAYA-FCA INDIA ENGINEERING’S MAJOR INIATIVE OF REHABILITATION

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) India and SEVALAYA had joined force together to help those who are greatly affected by the recent flood in Kerala, especially the 15 families whose homes were completely wrecked and misplaced by the flood. FCA management decided to extend its hands for the rehabilitation of those who are affected by the calamity. And that’s where the “Project Shelter” came to life.
Project Shelter is a project that aims to provide shelter to the families that were left devastated by the flood especially in Idukki District of Vazhathope Panchayath. And with the help of SEVALAYA an NGO dedicated to the welfare of the people, had helped in identifying the worst region within Kerala while FCA is not only a booming car manufacturing company worldwide but also committed in contributing to the environment and the society. A total of INR 1 crore 10 lakhs donated by FCA was intended for the said project.
The inauguration of the Project Shelter was done last December 6, 2018. Mr. Jeevan Babu, Idukki District Collector was the chief guest. Mr. Ramesh Gogineni, Director FCA India Engineering, Mr. V. Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee and SEVALAYAIS were also present to grace the occasion. Mr. Gongineni said that they had presence in Pune and Chennai but due to the suffering in Kerala, we have chosen to fund the reconstruction of the 15 homes. We are anxious that the project should progress fast and the construction should be done until March 2019.
Foundation of Stone Laying Function:
The stone laying was held last December 6, Thursday at Vazhathope Panachayat, Idukki District, Kerala. Mr. Jeevan Babu, IAS, was the presiding officer. “That is a laudable effort in the part of the corporate M/s FCA and NGO- SEVALAYA for the joint venture in undertaking the rehabilitation of the affected families”, he said. This shows their great concerned to the sufferings of the people and we thank them very much for that, he added.
Mr. V. Muralidhanan, Founder and Managing Trustee of SEVALAYA in his special address said that SEVALAYA had chosen to rise up to the occasion in the matter of rehabilitation. FCA India Eng’g. represented by its Director Mr. Ramesh Gongineni, said that calamity was an striking example for the integration and brotherly concerned that every Indian must unite in the event of crisis. We are of strong opinion and conviction that all should come forward to help those who are in distress, cross all barriers, regardless of what color they are or what language they’re speaking and etc. In fact, such attitude only will be through national integration, he concluded.
The function was marked by the presence of several eminent personalities, local bodies and the government. The welcome address was given Mr. Shìjan Thadhathil, Ex Vice President of the local government of Panchayat and Mr. Pravewen Dev, AGM, HR- FCA Eng’g. proposed the vote of thanks.
