ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciouness) Chennai stand up to the situation and support the Government in all the important steps advocated by it, not only for the prevention of the spread of Covid-19 but also to extend necessary  essentials to the people of the state during the period of lockdown.

Several devotees of ISKCON are praying for world welfare by chanting the mahamantra – Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare daily.

We are also reading sacred scriptures like the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatham every day so that the atmosphere may be purified by these transcendental prayers and sound vibrations and the hearts of the people may be pacified without fear and anxiety.

Whatever steps we may take to prevent the contagion, it is the will of the Lord that will eventually help us overcome the crisis.

At our ISKCON ECR Sholinganallur Temple in Chennai, packed food is kept available for patrolling police officers who stand by leaving aside their families only to extend the support and hold law and order in the city, who avail the same through the day.

Food relief is being carried out by other centers of ISKCON in the districts of Tamilnadu such as Coimbatore, Madurai, Nagercoil, Trichy and so on to the needy.

On the request of the Zonal Officer of the Greater Chennai Corporation, ISKCON Chennai distributed 2000 safety kits containing gloves, masks, sanitizers and soaps.

These have been handed over to the Zonal officer, Zone 15, Greater Chennai Corporation to distribute to volunteers, health workers and sanitation staff. Safety Kits were also given to the Neelankarai Police station for the use of the police force.

We are harnessing resources to distribute grains and spices to daily wage labourers who are unable to raise income for their essential needs because of the lockdown. This is one essential step that we can take for them in order to help them and stand by them in this time of distress.

And as the saying goes, “WE NEED THEM, AS MUCH AS THEY NEED US”
