Southern Railways puts up an impressive show

Just move towards the stall of Southern Railway one can get a glimpse of ‘Father of the Nation’ spinning charkha. This is bound to remind the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.

Southern Railway displayed the replica of the greatman at entrance of its stall at 46th Tourist and Industrial Trade Fair at Island Grounds in Chennai. The well-known organisation set this to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation.

There is more at the entrance to welcome the visitors. A replica of the Eiffel Tower, Nilgiri Mountain Railway Steam Loco and a bull, all made from scrap are  placed to welcome the visitors to the pavilion.

There is lot in store for everyone at the stall to see and cherish. Children can watch the working miniature model of locomotive WAP4 made by Basic Training Centre of Carriage and Wagon Workshop at Perambur.

Menu does not end there, there is more for the delight of children. Miniature working model of Nilgiri Mountain Railway’s X class locomotive is also there to arrest the visitors’ attention. Golden Rock Workshop too had something to offer for the delight of visitors at the stall.

Working miniature model of WAP7, another locomotive with Indian Railways by Golden Rock is winning the hearts of children and elders. What is generating an ever-lasting impression is the miniature model of well-known Pamban Bridge.

This working model shows the working of the schezher span of the Pamban Bridge, which allows the train to pass the viaduct and later lifts the spans to allow ships to pass.

Miniature models of boxnhl wagon (bogie open wagon) and bogie pol tank wagon are managing to arrest attention of the visitors.

Various informative wall displays describing the improvements in Railways are put up in the stall. Visitors must never forget to see the selfie point with a scenic Nilgiri Mountain Railway as the backdrop, this is also not staying behind when it comes to captivating the visitors.

General Manager of Southern Railway John Thomas visited the stall and praised those who put in their best for establishing the stall in the exhibition.

The 70 day Tourist and Industrial Trade fair at Island Grounds, Chennai, is there upto 29 February 2020 and is open from 11.00 am to 9.00 pm on Sundays and holidays and from 3.00 pm to 9.00 pm on all other days.
