S Rly gets Rs 4118.80 crore allocation

The union budget allotment for Southern Railway stands at Rs 4118.80 crore for the financial year 2019-20. According to sources, the allotments will be used to focus on enhancing railway safety, project implementation and upgrading passenger amenities.
Sources further say, for line doubling Rs 901.90 crore was allotted in the budget. Gauge conversions works have got an amount of Rs 245.10 crore and new line projects received an amount of Rs 52.29 crore.
Also, providing prominence to railway safety works, Rs 380.54 crore has been allotted to take up road-over-bridge and road-under-bridge works. And, Rs. 51.87 crore is allotted for level crossing works.
Track renewal works have got an allotment of Rs. 918 crore. Various traffic facilities will get upgraded with the provision of Rs. 41.47 crore, say sources from Southern Railway.
Passenger amenities at stations over Southern Railway will be upgraded with Rs. 264.22 crore allotted in the Budget outlay for the year 2019-20.
