RB shield delight for GOC

There is another happy news for Tamilnadu on the railway front. The Central Workshop at Goldenrock, Tiruchchirappalli (GOC) has bagged Railway Board shield for best railway workshop in Indian Railways in recognition of its outstanding performance during the year 2018-19.
Sources from the railways say that this is the first occasion in the history of GOC to win the best workshop shield at the national level instituted by Railway Board. The Carriage and Wagon Workshop at Jagadhri in Northern Railway has shared the shield along with GOC.
General Manager of Southern Railway Rahul Jain received the shield from Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman, Railway Board along with P.N.Jha, chief workshop manager, GOC in Mumbai as part of 64th Railway Week annual awards.
Seven officers and staff of Southern Railway also received awards at Railway Board level during the function. GOC has achieved remarkable milestones in Periodic Overhauling of Coaches (POH), reduction in sick marking of coaches, local passing of rolling stock, commissioning of critical plants and machinery, effective utilization of funds, imparting training to employees.
GOC has also undertaken special projects such as upgradation of coaches under Utkrisht Scheme, fitment of eco-friendly Bio-toilets and efficient scrap management.
The Workshop has many feathers in its cap, namely, IMS, ISO 3834, and Energy Management Certifications, 5-Star and Green Co rating from Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
