The Railway Protection Force in Southern Railways have been rendering their untiring service to the society. RPF personnel’s despite various odds have risen up to the occasion and irrespective of their personal hardships have been performing exceedingly well.
In addition to protecting and safeguarding Railway stations, Rolling stock and other Railway properties, they have been actively associated with the local administrations, Police, NGOs etc., to provide food and other facilities to the needy and downtrodden.
The RPF personnel’s have prepared 4000 Nos. of Sanitizers and 25000 Nos. of masks and supplied to the RPF personnel onduty. Further adding to 2500 nos. of masks and 100 nos. of sanitizers have been supplied to GRP and Frontline Railway employees.
RPF in association with IRCTC and Civil Authorities have provided food to around 72000 poor and needy persons, and RPF personnel have voluntarily contributed and provided food to around 3000 poor and needy persons and groceries and vegetables to 126 coolie porters, sanitary staff of Railway station, totally valued Rs.95,000/-
Around 1900 RPF officers and staff are deployed for meeting requirements in Railway stations, stabled coaches, locomotives and Railway establishments etc. and 120 RPF officers and staff are deployed for escorting goods, parcel trains and workmen special trains.
In addition to it, 26 Nos. of Sanitizer Pumps have been procured and all RPF stations and administrative offices are being continuously disinfected indigenously. The usage of Drones for patrolling Railway yards, coaching terminals, etc. are also put into force.
The Senior officers viz., IG, DIG & Divisional Incharges have been visiting the field units and motivating the staff. The officers and staff have been issued necessary instructions to adopt all precautionary measures to prevent Covid-19.
Further, in order to boost the immunity of the front line RPF personnel Vitamin – C tablets, Ginger Garlic and Pepper Soup are being provided to the staff.
